Krabi Power Plant


Krabi power plant is located in Klong Kanan sub-district, Nuea Khlong district, Krabi province, covering an area of 600 rais.

Total Generating Capacity: 340 MW

Fuel: Natural gas, fuel oil

Project Development
In the past, Krabi power plant was comprised of three 20 MW generating units with lignite as fuel. It started its commercial operation in 1964 and operated for 31 years until September 30, 1995. In 1996, EGAT proposed to construct the new thermal power plant on the same area of the old Krabi lignite power plant. The project was approved by the Cabinet on April 29, 1997. Now Krabi power plant houses a 340 MW generating unit.
