Thai petanque athletes impressively won 8 medals from 28th SEA Games in Singapore. EGAT’s Deputy Governor - Corporate Social Affairs assured that EGAT would financially support Petanque Federation of Thailand for 8 years continually, amounting to 5 million baht annually or 60 million in total.

On June 16, 2015 Mr. Saharath Boonpotipukde, Deputy Governor - Corporate Social Affairs, Mr. Worrapoj Manaphanpong, Director of General Services Division, Mr. Sanit Niyamakom, Deputy Director of Social Affairs Division, and Mrs. Suphonnarth Lamlert, Deputy Director of Human Resource Development Division were EGAT representatives to welcome and congratulate the petanque athletes for receiving 8 medals from SEA Games 2015 hosted in Singapore. Representatives from Petanque Federation of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of the Princess Mother, media, and general people also joined in welcoming the athletes at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The Deputy Governor said that EGAT would like to congratulate petanque athletes for winning 8 gold medals, which was regarded the great success bringing the fame to Thailand.

The Deputy Governor further commented that with EGAT financial support, Petanque Federation of Thailand could develop the Thai athletes to receive several medals from various competitions, both in the region and world levels, contributing to the pride and prestige to the country and people. The major achievement in the world championship included:

1. female team : winner for 7 continual years
2. male team : second place
3. junior : winner on team and shooting categories

Mr. Thanakorn Sangkaew, one of new star athletes, said that he was very glad for receiving 3 gold medals and would like to thank coach and trainers who well managed competition plan. Also, he expressed his thank to EGAT which had continuously financially supported Petanque Federation of Thailand, making Petanque athletes to bring prestige and happiness to all Thais.

The gold medals Thai petanque athletes won from 10 matches included male shooting, single female, mixed doubles, double male, double female, mixed team (3 persons), male team (3 persons), female team (3 persons). This sport could win many medals, as well as bringing the prestige on the development of petanque athletes to Thailand.

Apart from Petanque Federation, EGAT has also supported Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA). On June 10, 2015 at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Mr. Tinnakorn Porjit, Chief of Social Affairs Network Management, was EGAT representative to welcome and congratulate Thai weightlifting athletes who could win 4 gold medals, 6 bronze medals, and 2 copper medals from IWF Junior World Championships 2015 hosted in Wroclaw, Poland.
