          Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) laid the foundation stone for “EGAT Head Office Learning Center”. EGAT has paid 600 million baht for this center. The center, which is expected to be done by late 2016, is going to be electric energy learning center to help create endless imagination in the form of energy park.

          November 30, 2015 Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate, EGAT Governor, chaired foundation stone laying ceremony of EGAT Head Office Learning Center that will be energy learning center. Mr. Kurujit Nakornthap, Chairman of EGAT Board of Directors, executives, and employees also joined the event at EGAT Head Office Learning Center, EGAT head office, Nonthaburi.

          Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate, EGAT Governor, said that EGAT wanted to build electric energy learning centers throughout the country that did not only help people understand electric energy, necessity of generating electricity and EGAT mission but also stimulated young generation’s imagination and creativity. Academic knowledge, construction management, and cooperation from related sectors were all needed for building process. EGAT had determination to build this center to be source of education for youth and public. The target group for this center was children, students, and general people.

          Mrs. Reungvarayudh Pradistassanee, Director of Design and Construction Management Division, in charge of designing and building EGAT Head Office Learning Center, said that this center would be built under environmentally friendly design concept that asked to be awarded LEED Platinum certification by US Green Building Council (USGBC). It was built with the idea of enjoyable and endless creative space in the form of energy park. Moreover, EGAT Head Office Learning Center was designed with the concept of “universal design”, which meant it could be used conveniently by all people including elderly people and handicapped people. It was also expected to be a new landmark near Chao Phraya River.

          EGAT Head Office Learning Center is planned to have 4 floors with 6,200 square meters usable space in which 4,259 square meters is exhibition space or 69% of usable space. The building budget is about 600 million baht including 200 million baht for producing exhibition media. The content is divided into 5 topics : 1. Foudation of Electric Energy 2. Electricity Generation Technology “Look at the world : Look at us” 3. Thailand Electric Energy 4. Pride of EGAT and 5. ASEAN Insights. The building section has been constructed since July 2015, and it will take 15 months to be completed by late 2016.
