          EGAT will host LED Expo & Thailand Energy Saving Week which is ASEAN's largest international exhibition on LED energy saving products and technology. More than 500 domestic and international manufacturers will join the event that aims to raise public awareness of efficient and energy saving products.

          On March 31, 2015 Mr. Saharath Boonpotipukde, Deputy Governor – Corporate Social Affairs revealed, “regarding the lower price of oil, electricity demand in 2016 will grow by 4.19% as forecast in Power Development Plan (PDP 2015). EGAT has expected that the peak demand will be about 28,500 MW which will occur between April and May since the temperature will increase to 38.5 degree Celsius and will further rise every year.”

          Accordingly, EGAT has promoted energy saving with the focus on demand side management and held LED Expo & Thailand Energy Saving Week 2016. The event is comprised of LED Expo Thailand, Thailand Energy Saving Week, and PCB Expo Thailand held on April 19-22, 2016 at Buildings 4-8, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. Trade days are on the first three days, while on the last day, it opens for the public to visit and buy quality products with special price. Modern Lamp Design Contest 2016 is also held in this event in which there are 20 teams of contestants. The winner will receive a trophy from Minister of Energy and a reward amounting to 100,000 baht.

          “In this year, there will be more than 500 manufacturers from South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and China etc., to exhibit the energy saving products and technology including LED light bulb. Moreover, experts from Thailand and other countries will join Thailand LED & Energy Saving Summit of 30 topics to update the current trend,” said the Deputy Governor.

          Another activity in the event is to exchange old light bulb for Label no. 5 LED light bulb with 5 watts. 500 LED light bulbs are available in each day for the exchange. The interested people need to press “like” on LED Expo Thailand Facebook Page and bring the old light bulb together with the electricity bill of March 2016 to receive the new LED light bulb. One household can exchange only one LED light bulb.

          Mr. Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Deputy Director – Managemant and Strategy, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) revealed that LED Expo & Thailand Energy Saving Week 2016 was regarded ASEAN's largest international exhibition on LED energy saving products and technology. The energy demand that had grown continuously drove government and private sector as well as the general public to save energy. This exhibition could response to the requirement and expand the business network to other countries in the ASEAN region.

          According to Global Association of the Exhibition Industry or UFI, Thailand is still number one in ASEAN in owning the large area of exhibition covering 222,984 square meters. TCEB expects that LED Expo & Thailand Energy Saving Week 2016 will make the country earn an income not less than 15,650 million baht.
