          North Bangkok Power Plant Block 2 started commercial operation to meet power demand in Bangkok Metropolitan Area and strengthen electricity system security. The power plant was planned to be Model Campus and a model plant for others on its management and caring for environment and community.

          On January 15, 2016, Mr. Charin Karnjanarat, Assistant Governor – Generation 1, chaired the commercial operation ceremony of North Bangkok Power Plant Block 2. Mr. Yongyut Preechom, Director of North Bangkok Power Plant, and EGAT officers also joined the event at the Control Room, North Bangkok Power Plant Block 2, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province.

          The Director said that the commercial operation of the 828 MW plant would strengthen electricity system security especially in the area that had high power demand like Bangkok Metropolitan Region. With the latest technology, the power plant was able to utilize natural gas from both of the Gulf of Thailand and Myanmar natural gas fields. The fuel management would be more flexible in case either of them was not available.

          “Moreover, the North Bangkok Power Plant Block 2 will be Model Campus, the learning center, for the chosen coaches to study the new technology and apply it to their real work in other plants. Also, it will be a model for the power plants across the country on its management and caring for environment and community.” said the Director.
