EGAT Renewable Power Plant Development
EGAT has continuously developed renewable power plant projects in response to the government’s policy in promoting electricity generation from renewable energy and to reduce fossil fuel consumption. The important projects are as follows:
Scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD) |
Project | Province | Type | Capacity (MW) |
2020 | - Ubol Ratana Dam Hydropower Plant Units 1-3 - Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid of Sirindhorn Dam - Srinagarind Dam Hydropower Plant Renovation, Units 1-3 |
Khon Kaen Ubon Ratchathani Kanchanaburi |
Hydro Solar and Hydro Hydro |
25.2 45 360 |
2021 | - Pha Chuk Dam Hydropower Plant | Uttaradit | Hydro | 14 |
Since EGAT realizes the limitation of renewable energy of which power generation is unstable, a combination of various renewable energy sources to generate electricity is a way EGAT has focused to get rid of its limitation, which will enhance stability and efficiency of power generation by renewable energy. Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid is a combination of hydropower from EGAT’s dams and solar power from floating solar panels on water surface of EGAT dams. EGAT’s 2 pilot projects of Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid have been developed at Sirindhorn Dam in Ubon Ratchathani Province with the generating capacity of 45 MW and Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen Province with the generating capacity of 24 MW.
