Generating Capacity
         The powerhouse accommodates a 19 MW generator.

         Kang Krachan Dam was built across Phetchaburi River in the area of Mai Ruak Hill and Chao Hill in Kaeng Krachan District of Phetchaburi Province. The construction of the dam commenced in 1961 and was completed in 1966. The opening ceremony of the dam was performed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on May 22, 1966.
         The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) installed a power generator at Kang Krachan Dam and started the construction of the power plant in November 1971. The construction was completed for power generation in August 1974. After a long operation, the power plant had been modified in November 2008 to increase the efficiency of power generation. The operation of the power plant was restarted in May 2010.
