On April 28, 2015 Mr. Kurujit Nakornthap, Chairman of EGAT Board of Directors chaired the ceremony of EGAT’s 45th year of establishment and EGAT CSR Day 2015 held for the 7th consecutive year under the theme “sharing knowledge to society”. Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate, EGAT Governor, executives, and employees joined the event at EGAT Convention Hall 1, Public Relation Building, EGAT head office.

Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonstae, EGAT Governor, said that EGAT was committed to developing the organization to achieve its vision “to become a world class organization in electricity business” and be global top quartile with good corporate governance and transparency giving care to society and environment.

“This is the 7th year EGAT has held this celebration. This year’s theme “sharing knowledge to society” aims to provide the floor for people to exchange opinions on CSR in various aspects. There are the discussion panel on CSR and sustainability, the exhibition of projects to celebrate the 60th birthday anniversary of HRH Princess Sirindhorn, experience sharing on CSR, and the sale of products from the communities around EGAT’s power plants and dams,” said EGAT Governor.

Mr. Kurujit Nakornthap, Chairman of EGAT Board of Directors, opened the ceremony and gave the speech on “EGAT’s 46 Years of establishment, organization of national pride.” The Chairman said that EGAT generated and supplied sufficient electricity to Thai people, which EGAT should be proud of. CSR projects implemented by EGAT were very beneficial, enhancing the communities around power plants to have products for sale, while stakeholders helped promote EGAT activities, creating the organizational culture on CSR. The activities would enhance caring mind of EGAT people for others.

He further said that CSR was not public relation because those who could efficiently operated CSR needed dedication spirit and empathy. EGAT CSR projects in the past could run smoothly; however, EGAT needed to review the projects and develop them. Otherwise, EGAT CSR projects would be the same.

“EGAT executives had better implement CSR projects for senior people because from the survey by Thai Society Reform, life expectancy of Thai people is longer every year. Taking care of old people is like taking care of our parents”, said the Chairman.
