“EGAT 50th Anniversary Half Marathon” gathered 4,500 runners and raised funds around 2.6 million baht to buy medical tools for 7 hospitals in 5 provinces for the happiness of all Thais.

          On November 17, 2019 Mr. Viboon Rerksirathai, EGAT Governor chaired the opening ceremony of “EGAT 50th Anniversary Half Marathon” which was held to encourage people to work out for good health and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of EGAT. Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, Deputy Governor – Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy as the Chairman of Run for Health Club briefed the opening remark. EGAT Board of Directors, Professor Dr. Pisut Painmanakul and Mr. Pakorn Apaphant; EGAT senior executives; former EGAT executives; EGAT Group executives; Bang Kruai Municipal Mayor; representatives of 7 hospitals in the vicinity of EGAT power plants and dams, celebrities, and runners totaling 4,500 persons participated in the event and donated around 2.6 million baht to small hospitals with the shortage of medical tools.

          The Governor said that EGAT would like to thank Thai people for staying side by side for 50 years. For half a century, EGAT has generated electricity for the happiness of all Thais, cared for society, community, and environment as well as supporting sports activities to be held both in EGAT power plants and dams. On this occasion, EGAT expressed its sincere thanks to 4,500 runners in “EGAT 50th Anniversary Half Marathon” for participating in delivering all of the gross income without deductions to buy medical tools for 7 small hospitals in the vicinity of EGAT dams and power plants in 5 provinces, namely Tha Kradan Hospital and Thong Pha Phum Hospital in Kanchanaburi, Ban Ta Khun Hospital in Surat Thani, Sam Ngao Hospital in Tak, Bannag Sata Hospital in Yala, and Tha Pla Hospital and Nam Pat in Uttaradit.

          The event was full of joy and smiles of the runners. The celebrities, Toon Bodyslam and actress Koy Ratchawin as well as a mini concert by BNK48 brought the happiness to runners and all attendants. The food in the event including brown rice with omelette was served in containers made of banana leaves or other degradable materials instead of plastic plates or glasses. Moreover, stainless spoons were given instead of plastic spoons. This is regarded a running event that supports health and environment care, full with joy and happiness from merit-making.
