EGAT and PWA signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the cooperation to expand the water distribution network to the area covering Khlong Khanan, Pakasai, Taling-chan, and Khlong Khamao Sub-Districts in Nuea Khlong District, Krabi Province with the aim to sustainably solve the water shortage during the dry season.

On December 9, 2014, Mr. Songpol Sawattham, the Governor of Krabi Province, chaired the MOU signing ceremony between Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) represented by Mrs. Ratana Kitchawan, the PWA Governor, and EGAT represented by Mr. Ratanachai Namwong, Deputy Governor-Power Plant Development, at Thara Room, Maritime Park & Spa Resort in Mueang District, Krabi Province. The MOU signing ceremony on the expansion of water distribution network to the area covering Khlong Khanan, Pakasai, Taling-chan, and Khlong Khamao Sub-Districts was also joined by Acting Second Lieutenant Vikrom Chaktee, the Sheriff and community leader of Nuea Khlong District.

The Governor of Krabi expressed his gratitude to EGAT and PWA that saw the importance on the life quality development of Krabi people especially on the water-electricity sufficient use as well as to the cooperation from both organizations to sustainably relieve the water shortage happening in the four sub-districts during the dry seasons every year. He was sure that after the expansion project was completed, the life quality of people would be better.

PWA Governor said that PWA was responsible for supplying the high quality water to people around the nation. The cooperation with EGAT was a pleasing event for the two organizations and the local people who would have the water for consumption for the whole year, and it could sustainably solve the water shortage. She expressed the thanks to EGAT, Krabi Governor, and every related sector that made the project successful. After both of EGAT and PWA completed the water distribution system expansion to the four sub-districts, the optimum benefit would go to all local people.

The EGAT Deputy Governor said that EGAT always took care of community and society around the EGAT power plants. Because the people in Khlong Khanan, Pakasai, Taling-chan, and Khlong Khamao Sub-Districts had faced the water shortage during the dry season for a long time, EGAT asked the cooperation from PWA to expand the water distribution network in Nuea Khlong District, Krabi Province for them to consume sufficient water for the whole year. It was also a sustainable way to solve the water shortage. He also expressed the thanks to PWA, Krabi Governor, Nuea Khlong Sheriff, community leaders, and all people for their support to EGAT’s operation.

The budget for the expansion project of water distribution system is 122 million baht that is shared by EGAT for 80 million baht and PWA for 42 million baht.
