          EGAT organized the activity “Planting on Mother’s Day, Harvesting on Father’s Day” at the paddy field in Nam Phra Tai Garden, EGAT Headquarters with the aim to disseminate sustainable job creation under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of King Rama IX to the public. It is also one of COVID-19 relief measures by EGAT.

          On August 18, 2020 Mr. Suttichai Juprasertporn, Deputy Governor - Administration of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand chaired “Planting on Mother’s Day, Harvesting on Father’s Day” activity of the year 2020 which is one of continual activities to alleviate the impact of COVID-19. The activity was organized by the Learning Center for Communities Subcommittee that was under the Community Relation Committee. EGAT executives, personnel, and villagers surrounding EGAT Headquarters joined this activity at the EGAT Headquarters.

          The EGAT Deputy Governor said that this activity was one of activities held by Learning Center for Communities, EGAT Headquarters. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 has affected the way communities earn their livings, with the support of food sources and reliable jobs, the grassroots economy will be driven to support the country’s sustainable growth.

          “Learning Center for Communities, EGAT Headquarters is one of EGAT willingness to support communities to learn about sustainable job creation under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of King Rama IX. ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,’” said the EGAT Deputy Governor.

          Mr. Jadil Sukapanth, EGAT Assistant Governor – Organization Development, as the Chairman of Learning Center for Communities Subcommittee said that “Planting on Mother’s Day, Harvesting on Father’s Day” activity aims to express gratitude to His Majesty the King for his kind benevolence. It also complies with EGAT’s strategic plan of building trust among stakeholders and the country’s sustainable growth with innovations. The communities are encouraged to have safe food supply sources that can create sustainable job and income under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of King Rama IX. This leaning center will be a learning source and promote the Sufficiency Economy as well as supporting the establishment of seed bank to have non-genetically modified rice seeds and store them for the next planting season.

          For this year’s “Planting on Mother’s Day, Harvesting on Father’s Day,” Hom Chor Ratree rice variety was selected for planting. Its outstanding features are bright color, softness, stickiness, easy-to-cook, good taste, and low sugar, which suits health lovers. Mr. Surachai Sukprom, Outstanding Farmer of Nonthabuti Province was invited to be instructor and join the planting activity.
