          EGAT showcased 4 research works on technology and innovation in Thailand Research Expo 2020, comprising water weed disposal grinding machine for agricultural benefit of community, multi-tasking robot for transmission line maintenance, development of testing pill for coliform bacteria in drinking water and vibration decoder program for broken bearing at the beginning stage. As a state enterprise, it aims to be a part of national development by using research and innovations to bring about stability, prosperity and sustainability.

         On August 2, 2020, Miss Jiraporn Sirikum, EGAT Assistant Governor - Research, Innovation and Business Development and Mr. Sathit Krongsut, Director of Research and Innovation Division attended Thailand Research Expo 2020 held by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and research networks, under the concept “Research for National Development: Moving towards Stability, Prosperity and Sustainability.” On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Soranit Siltharm, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Secretary of NRCT, Acting Director, delivered welcoming remarks on the first day of the Expo on 22nd floor, Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World, Bangkok.

         Assoc. Prof. Soranit Siltharm, Permenant Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation said that Thailand Research Expo, held for fifteen consecutive years, was a national platform to display quality research, technology and innovations, showing power of creativity and progress on research, with an aim to integrate knowledge for national development in academic aspect, policies, society/community and commerce/industry. The showcased research covered 5 areas which were to develop human forces and knowledge institutes, to solve challenging social problems, to increase competitiveness, to raise area-based development and reduce inequality and to drive the BCG Economy Model. Moreover, the Expo enhanced all sectors to jointly drive Thai research to serve the country development.

         This Expo featured a memorial exhibition on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great “the king of Thai research,” an exhibition of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and the royal family’s benevolence on Thai research, innovations to tackle emerging diseases, research and innovations for communities and research developed by universities. Among the activities also included discussion penal on topics of new normal, national urgent problems and research-related procedure; and the showcase of 300 research and invention at the Highlight Stage.

         EGAT displayed research, technology and innovations of its staff which were 1. water weed disposal grinding machine for agricultural benefit of community, 2. multi-tasking robot for transmission line maintenance, 3. development of testing pill for coliform bacteria in drinking water and 4. vibration decoder program for broken bearing at the beginning stage developed by Mae Moh Mine Production Division.
