At CentralWorld on August 8, 2014 Princess Soamsavali graciously opened the 45th Royal Project Fair : “Celebrating the 82nd Anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen and Her Generosity to the People”. In this fair, EGAT exhibited the Wan Kaew Project with the aim to raise funds for eyeglasses and tools that would be used in the mobile optometry units for free eye examination and glass fitting to the needy with eyesight problem.

Mr. Prapas Vichakul, Deputy Governor-Corporate Social Affairs serving as EGAT spokesman said that EGAT once again organized the fund raising campaign for Wan Kaew Project in the 45th Royal Project Fair. This fund would be allocated to purchase lens and other tools to provide free vision tests and eyeglasses to poor people via the mobile unit service. At the fair during August 8-17, 2014, EGAT’s reforestation and Wan Kaew projects, which had been implemented to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen and HRH Princess Sirindhorn were also exhibited. Moreover, at the booth the visitors could donate the money for Wan Kaew Project by joining the auction of eyeglasses owned by actors and celebrities.

To date, over 200,000 underprivileged people had been served by the Project, yet many more were still waiting for help. Earlier, EGAT had called for the donation with the aim to purchase eyeglasses and the tools to serve additional 60,000 people, and it was expected by 2018 the total of 260,000 underprivileged people with eyesight problem would be helped. To complete the plan, more 15 million baht were needed. This project was implemented as the tribute to HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s 60th Birthday Anniversary.
