         EGAT celebrated the opening of Wang Noi Power Plant Block 4. The power plant enhances Thailand power security and helps developing industrial and commercial sectors as well as the life quality of the community.




         On May 20, 2014 the Chairperson of EGAT board of Directors, Mrs. Anchalee Chavanich, and the Governor of Ayutthaya Province, Mr. Witthaya Piewpong, co-chaired the opening ceremony of Wang Noi Power Plant Block 4. EGAT Governor, Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate and representatives of a consortium comprising of Siemens AG, Siemens Ltd. (Thailand) and the Japanese partner Marubeni joined the event. The ceremony was marked by the co-chairpersons and all partners putting the hands on the glass sphere to start the generator synchronization. Many EGAT executives, governmental officers, and community leaders were invited to witness the ceremony.

         Wang Noi Power Plant Block 4 is under the Thailand Power Development Plan (PDP 2010), which was approved by the Cabinet on February 22, 2011, to support the growing power demand in the central part of Thailand. The Block 4 has the net capacity of 785.6 MW comprising of 2 gas turbine generators, 2 heat recovery steam generators, and a steam turbine generator, using natural gas from the Gulf of Thailand as fuel. The gas is delivered through Bang Pakong-Wang Noi pipeline, and the water from Rapeepat Canal is drawn to use in the cooling tower system. During the construction period, EGAT had constantly conducted environmental quality monitoring.

         As Wang Noi Power Plant Block 4 has been added to the system, the total capacity of the Wang Noi Power Plant is 2812.6 MW which will strengthen the power system in the central part of Thailand especially in Ayutthaya Province where many industrial estates are located.
