         EGAT moved forward in helping Thais fight COVID-19 by setting up “Happiness Cabinets” in communities around EGAT dams and power plants nationwide. The “Happiness Cabinets” were first launched at EGAT Headquarters in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province in order to take care of the community, create an area for sharing happiness, and relieve the people’s difficulties.



         Mr. Suttichai Juprasertporn, EGAT’s Deputy Governor - Administration revealed that during the situation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) which has directly impacted the well-being of the people, EGAT, as a state enterprise that has stood beside and taken care of the community continuously, has created a policy to help the community by setting up more than 30 “Happiness Cabinets” around EGAT dams and power plants nationwide to create an area for sharing generosity and consumer goods, and to help those who are in need and are having problems with their work and well-being due to the spread of COVID-19. On May 21, 2020, EGAT officially launched 10 “Happiness Cabinets” at EGAT Headquarters in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province along with EGAT executives and staff who delivered consumer goods to be stored in the Cabinets together with community leaders and villagers.

         Mr. Chuen Thongmon, President of Sinpattana Community in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province thanked EGAT for organizing the “Happiness Cabinets” in the community which is a great policy because it benefits the villagers and community, and they can also share goods and help each other get through the crisis.



         Moreover, EGAT will distribute the “Happiness Cabinets” to areas around EGAT dams and power plants nationwide to relieve the difficulties of Thai’s during the COVID-19 situation. Initially, EGAT will be responsible for adding consumer goods to the Cabinets, which will be partly from the generosity of EGAT officials who have donated to the “Happiness Boxes.” EGAT has placed “Happiness Boxes” around buildings in EGAT Headquarters to gather goods before adding them to the Cabinets in the communities. The public can also share goods to help those in need. As for aiding the people during the crisis, up until now, EGAT has given out disaster relief packages, set up meal kitchens to give out omelet with rice and drinking water, promoted careers, and created income for those affected by the COVID-19 crisis continuously.


         EGAT is determined to help and take care of everyone in order to overcome the spread of COVID-19 together, and is ready to stand beside Thais in every crisis.
