          EGAT Mae Moh won 3 winning prizes from ASEAN Coal Awards 2015 on clean coal technology use, corporate social responsibility, and mine’s water pumping system, as well as a second runner-up prize on mining process.


          On October 7, 2015 EGAT Mae Moh’s executives led by Mr. Nikul Silasuwan, Assistant Governor – Generation 2 and Mr. Bunpoht Teeravas, Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine were EGAT representatives to receive the awards. Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate, EGAT Governor also joined the granting ceremony of ASEAN Coal Awards 2015 held in 2015 ASEAN Energy Awarding Ceremony under ASEAN Energy Business Forum – AEBF 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. EGAT won 4 awards on the management of the mine and power plant as follows:

          1. Winner on Best Practice of Clean Coal Use and Technology in Power Generation under the topic “Eco-Efficient Electricity of the Mae Moh Lignite-fired Power Generating Unit 12”

          2. Winner on Corporate Social Responsibility under the topic “Mae Moh Power Plant’s CSR : the Best Neighborhood of Mae Moh Community”

          3. Winner on Special Submission under the topic “Protection and Control of Floods in Open-Pit Mine by Automatic 3-Stage Differential Elevation Series-Flow Pumping System”

          4. Second runner-up on Best Practice of Surface Coal Mining under the topic “Mining Process, Open-Pit Mining, and Coal Transportation with Sustainably Environmental Care and Management”


          ASEAN Forum on Coal National Committee of Thailand selected and nominated EGAT works that had once received Thailand Coal Awards 2015 to the ASEAN Coal Awards 2015. Later, Department of Mineral Fuel received the letter from ASEAN Center for Energy informing that Board of Judge for ASEAN Coal Awards selected 4 works from EGAT for the mentioned awards. The awards could confirm that EGAT Mae Moh had its operation and management in the international and ASEAN standard on environmental management, clean coal technology use, coal production and use without environmental impact, and CSR.
