EGAT revealed that the country’s peak demand this year which was 27,198.4 MW broke the peak record for the 3rd time, mainly because of the high temperature.

Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate, EGAT Governor, revealed that on May 7, 2015 at 14.23 hours, the country’s peak demand reached 27,198.4 MW, breaking the peak record for the third time (2nd peak demand occurred on April 21, 2015 at 27,139.0 MW) due to the hot weather with the temperature of 37.1 degree Celsius. However, EGAT ensures that there would be sufficient electrical capacity and fuel supply to meet the country’s demand.

EGAT would also like to ask people to help save the power by following the power-saving measures namely cleaning air conditioner during summer, turning off the unused light, setting the air conditioner temperature at 25 degree Celsius (increasing one more degree Celsius could save the power for 10%), unplugging the unused electrical appliances, using the power-saving light bulb. The mentioned measures could save the power for the country and reduce the people’s expenses.
