Energy Management 

In recognition of the importance of efficient resource utilization and the reduction of environmental pollution, EGAT places strong emphasis on the effective management of energy consumption.

Management Approach 

The Line of EGAT Deputy Governor – Fuel is designated to be responsible for the fuel management process, with the role of ensuring sufficient and efficient fuel production and procurement for power plants, while also supporting the development of fuel-related businesses and other related businesses within the EGAT Group. This function operates in parallel with the Line of EGAT Deputy Governor – Generation, which is responsible for electricity generation process. 

EGAT power plants utilize a diversified energy mix, comprising both renewable and non-renewable energy sources, in order to ensure that the country’s electricity generation remains secure, reliable, and reasonably priced. In 2025, EGAT continued to use natural gas as its primary fuel, together with lignite coal and oil. Fuel consumption from various sources was as follows: 

  • Natural Gas: EGAT used natural gas from the Gulf of Thailand, onshore sources, and imported natural gas (from Myanmar and liquefied natural gas) for electricity generation at EGAT power plants, totaling 289,619 million cubic feet. 
  • Lignite Coal: EGAT used lignite from the Mae Moh Mine for electricity generation at the Mae Moh Power Plant, totaling 12.55 million tons. 
  • Fuel Oil: EGAT used 27.00 million liters of fuel oil as the primary energy source for electricity generation at the Krabi Power Plant. It also used diesel oil at the Bang Pakong Power Plant, Chana Power Plant, Krabi Power Plant, Mae Hong Son Power Plant, Mae Moh Power Plant, Nam Phong Power Plant, and South Bangkok Power Plant, totaling 8.69 million liters. 

In addition, EGAT also generated electricity from other renewable energy sources, including geothermal energy, solar energy, and wind energy. 

Energy Conservation 

EGAT implements internal energy conservation measures across the organization through various initiatives, including the following:

Lighting System Improvement at Tha Thung Na Dam Power Plant Replaced 440 lighting fixtures that had been in use for more than 20 years and had begun to deteriorate. 315,864.58 MJ/year
