EGAT applies GIS to speed up the supports for Covid-19 patients in Nonthaburi

20 September 2021

EGAT applies a Geographic Information System (GIS) to support voluntary works for hospital bed registration and transfer of COVID-19 patient data, which speed up the process 2-3 times. It has already assisted over 1,000 patients and geared up for continuously helping COVID-19 patients in Nonthaburi.

Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, EGAT Deputy Governor – Strategy, serving as EGAT Spokesperson, stated that due to the present COVID-19 situation, EGAT volunteers keep assisting people in Nonthaburi by applying the GIS technology to improve the performance of voluntary works. In cooperation with Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office (Nonthaburi PHO), the technology supports the coordination and data collection of over 1,000 COVID-19 patients who registered via Line Official “นนท์COV-19.” It also facilitates the Nonthaburi PHO’s admission procedure of COVID-19 patients timely.

EGAT applied the GIS technology, used for geographic data management in EGAT operation, for designing the platform in line with Nonthaburi PHO’s form via ArcGIS Survey 123, a specialized data gathering application with high performance in data analysis. EGAT aims at facilitating the voluntary works for filling data of the patients to be more precise, less redundant, and more systematic. After having applied the GIS, the data filling and transferring are 2-3 times faster. The number of cases of data transmitting increases from 20 to 50-70 patients per day, which can help over 1,000 patients to get faster access to the treatment.

For those in Nonthaburi who need help can register via Line Official “นนท์COV-19” and EGAT volunteer will make a call to preliminarily ask about the symptom before further coordination.

“EGAT and the volunteer team are ready to make an effort in helping COVID-19 patients to access the treatment, unceasingly develops innovations to support all sectors to tackle with COVID-19, and always stands beside Thais until the situation returns to normal,” Dr. Jiraporn concluded.
