Good Corporate Governance Policy

  • Adopting organization-wide six key principles of good corporate governance, namely rules of law, moral integrity, transparency, participation, responsibility and accountability as well as effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Setting forth EGAT Code of Ethics and Conduct to provide guidance for the Board of Directors, management, and all EGAT employees in performing their respective duties in addition to compliance with EGAT’s rules and regulations.
  • The Board of Directors formulates EGAT’s vision, strategies, policies and key initiatives taking into account risk factors and providing guidelines for proper risk and business management and processes including effective internal control system to ensure the reliability and accuracy of EGAT’s accounting systems, financial reports and accounting audits.
  • Encouraging executives and employees to perform their duties with dedication and responsibility.
  • Enhancing sound management systems and practices taking into consideration key stakeholder groups including (1)  Government, community and society, and the environment   (2)  Customers and stakeholders  (3)  Organization, and (4)  Employees.
  • Promoting the establishment of specific committees to assist the Board of Directors in reviewing and deliberating on critical matters.
  • Promoting accurate, adequate and timely disclosure of EGAT’s financial and non-financial information and ensure fair and equitable access to such information for all stakeholders and related parties.
  • The Board of Directors and management shall be the role model for ethical conduct.
  • Discharging one’s duties with full responsibility and commitment and with clear division of roles and responsibilities between the Board Chairman and EGAT Governor.
  • Establishing appropriate, fair and transparent systems and processes for the nomination and/or selection of all levels of key managerial positions.
  • Conducting self-assessment as a means to review the performance of the Board of Directors.

HR Policy

EGAT values its employees as the most important resources vital for the organization’s sustainable growth and success. Its HR management has emphasized continual development of both EGAT people and HR systems to efficiently drive EGAT’s mission and goal. HR policy has been stated by EGAT Governor to provide articulated policy and guidelines for all units to ensure efficient and consistent HR management and practice organization-wide. EGAT HR Policy is as follows:

  • Promote all individual employees to be decent, honest and thoughtful and behave in a way that earns the trust and respect of all stakeholders.
  • Value the work practice of high ethical standards and transparency, giving due care for environment and having the national and public interest at heart.
  • Value the work culture which encourages employees’ commitment to work achievement, the organization, and work consistency. 
  • Promote and develop employees to be competent, professional and visionary in their respective jobs with internationally recognized performance.
  • Manage and ensure fair and appropriate remuneration, job security and safety, opportunities for career growth and development as well as rewarding commensurate with individual employees’ ability and performance.
  • Develop and prepare all employees to capably perform the duties and roles that align with EGAT’s mission and vision.

EGAT Environmental Policy Statement

EGAT as a state enterprise under the Ministry of Energy has been entrusted with the mission of power system planning and development, generation and transmission, as well as demand side management to ensure adequate and high quality electricity service to support the country’s economic and social development. With a resolute determination to pursuing sustainable power development while also stepping up its leading role in energy and environmental conservation, EGAT has set out its Environmental Policy which serves as guidelines for EGAT’s overall operations as follows:

  • All units must act and operate in strict compliance with all applicable environmental laws, rules, regulations, and regulatory standards.
  • Opt to utilize clean technology for power development to ensure the environmentally-safe and friendly operation of EGAT’s power plants in communities where they operate.
  • All power stations of EGAT are encouraged to continuously implement and maintain the standardized environmental management system.
  • EGAT enhances and supports the implementation of demand side management program and clean development mechanism (CDM) projects to reduce electricity demand and consumption, hence the reductions of greenhouse gas emissions in effort to address the global warming problem.
  • EGAT enhances greater awareness on energy and natural resource conservation as well as energy efficiency within the organization and in society at large.
  • This EGAT Environmental Policy applies to all EGAT employees as well as related parties who are expected to conform strictly and also make known publicly.

CSR Policy

EGAT’s corporate social responsibility or CSR policy has been revised and updated in efforts to make it more relevant to the principles and practices relating to social responsibility in the International Standard ISO 26000 – Guidance on Social Responsibility. EGAT’s CSR policy was established with aims at:

  1. Promoting the practices of in-process CSR along EGAT’s core business processes with a focus on the generation and transmission of electricity with good quality, reliability, and at reasonable prices, and the conduct of efficient environmental operations and management,
  2. Conducting the organizational management based on good corporate governance, good moral and ethical responsibilities, and with respect for and response to the interests of stakeholders in all sectors, while placing emphasis on the efficiency and sustainable growth of core and related businesses,
  3. Giving importance to the respect of human rights, labor practices, and fair operating practices,
  4. Being a caring organization for society and communities, particularly the communities living around existing power plants and facilities, and in areas to be developed as new power plants’ sites, and the adoption of approaches focusing on the interests, needs and expectations of community members,
  5. Building a network of CSR partnership between EGAT and public and private agencies, aiming at contributing to the country’s sustainable development,
  6. Establishing a corporate culture on CSR which can actually put into practices to promote the volunteer spirits among employees organization-wide, and
  7. Promoting the conduct of CSR management practices across EGAT’s command lines, for the benefits of the society at large.
