EGAT is awarded Gold Class of Workation Thailand Project from spending 30 million baht promoting domestic tourism

EGAT received Gold Class of ‘Workation Thailand Project’ from helping stimulate the economy by spending around 30 million baht to promote domestic tourism. Moreover, EGAT has raised the quality of accommodations, restaurants, and tourist attractions within the 9 dams and a power plant to meet SHA Plus standards.

On February 15, 2022, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports joined a group photo session with agencies that received certificates from accumulating ‘survival points’ under the Workation Thailand Project. Mr. Prasertsak Cherngchawano, Deputy Governor – Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) represented EGAT to receive the Gold Class certificate as EGAT’s accumulated survival points ranked first among others, at Santi Maitree Building, Government House.

The Deputy Governor said that EGAT has participated in the Workation Thailand Project implemented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Ministry of Tourism & Sports to revive tourism industry since October 5, 2020. EGAT has supported work from anywhere policy as well as seminars and activities held at tourist attractions of entrepreneurs participating in the project, to distribute income to the workforce in hotel and tourism business. Meanwhile, EGAT’s 8 dams and a power plant, namely Bhumibol Dam in Tak, Sirikit Dam in Uttaradit, Vajiralongkorn Dam and Srinagarind Dam in Kanchanaburi, Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen, Sirindhorn Dam in Ubon Ratchathani, Chulabhorn Dam in Chaiyaphum, Rajjaprabha Dam in Surat Thani, and Mae Moh Power Plant are among the tourist attractions under the project. Participating in the project to stimulate economy, EGAT spent a total of 30,165,900 baht, equivalent to 301,659 survival points which is regarded the first rank of Gold Class, to assist hotel and tourism business entrepreneurs.

Besides paying attention to hygiene and safety of the tourists, EGAT has raised the quality of accommodations, restaurants, and tourist attractions within the dams and power plants. As a result, 10 places, namely Bhumibol Dam, Sirikit Dam, Vajiralongkorn Dam, Srinagarind Dam, Ubol Ratana Dam, Sirindhorn Dam, Chulabhorn Dam, Rajjaprabha Dam, Bang Lang Dam, and Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant are certified by SHA Plus to build the confidence and safety of tourists and support the new normal tourism.
