EVAT – EGAT hold Thai’s first electric motorcycle conversion contest to develop innovation and support EV market
5 April 2022EVAT joined hands with EGAT to hold the first electric motorcycle conversion contest for business opportunities in Thailand and aim to support the creation and development of EV personnel to enhance Thailand’s EV industry growth. The competition was a hit with almost 100 teams partaking in the event.

The Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT) collaborated with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to hold the ‘EVAT x EGAT Electric Motorcycle Conversion Contest for Business Opportunity’ between April 1-3, 2022. The event was joined by Mr. Krisda Utamote, EVAT President, Mr. Somsak Prangthong, EGAT Assistant Director – Demand Side Management and Social Affairs Division, and related agencies at Kasetsart University, Sriracha Campus in Chon Buri Province.
The purpose of the competition was to help build awareness for students, scholars, and the general public about the impact of electric vehicles (EVs) on the environment, economy, and industry. It is also an opportunity to show the potential of EV conversion technology which can be further developed in the future, including building business models and developing personnel specialized for manufacturing converted EVs to support the EV popularity in Thailand.

The 92 teams that participated in the competition include 81 teams from the educational institution category and 11 teams from the general public category. The champion teams from each category were the E-TECH-Motorcycle 2021 Team from Eastern College of Technology and the Itimgarage X Crafting Lab Team, each of them received a trophy and prize money of 100,000 Baht from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
