“Sensor for All” kicks off to monitor air quality across Thailand
10 June 2022The Ministry of Energy, EGAT, and provincial energy offices across Thailand have launched the operation of “Sensor for All” showing real-time data of air quality to help people plan daily activities and tackle problems of particulate matter and air pollution proactively, for the better air quality for Thais.

On June 9, 2022, Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy chaired the event to launch the operation of “Sensor for All.” Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy; Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT); related agencies; executives of the Ministry of Energy and EGAT, and officers from provincial energy offices across Thailand also attended the event at the Auditorium, EGAT 50th Anniversary Building, EGAT Headquarters, Nonthaburi Province.
Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow said that as people have to suffer from air pollution constantly, the Ministry of Energy places importance on air quality and environmental improvement by participating in installing air quality sensors, an important device that helps people monitor air quality data applied in their daily activities. Moreover, agencies in service, tourism, and public health sectors can benefit from the data.
Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit said that EGAT has taken part in air quality and environmental improvement continually. One of the projects is “EGAT Air TIME,” which is the energy and environment plan to tackle problems of air quality and climate change with the aim to achieve carbon neutrality goal. In the past, EGAT joined with partners to link the data of air quality as well as implement many projects, including air quality monitoring application, air quality innovation, and air quality data center, from which the public can access the useful data.
Presently, EGAT has installed 500 air quality sensors across the country and linked air quality data with Pollution Control Department via Air4Thai Application and with Chiang Mai University via Dustboy Application. As a result, the air quality data from “Sensor for All” are shown at 1,200 stations across the country. The real-time data can be checked at www.sensorforall.com, Sensor for All Application, and air quality data screens installed across the country. The data can be used by the people to monitor the air quality and plan their daily activities and by various agencies to join forces in tackling the problem of particulate matter. Moreover, the data can be applied by various sectors, such as the public health sector to monitor those who are at risk of respiratory diseases as well as the tourism sector to promote ecotourism, for Thai people’s better quality of life.
