29th Mae Moh Half Marathon in Lampang returns with new route this October 16

The 29th Mae Moh Half Marathon in Honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother will be held on October 16, 2022 after being postponed for two years due to COVID-19. This year’s event will introduce a new route which meets the standards of Athletics Association of Thailand and is certified by World Athletics. Registration is open from today to September 15, 2022, or until full capacity.

Mr. Charan Khumngeon, Assistant Governor – Generation of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), as the Vice Chairman of the Management Committee of Mae Moh Half Marathon in Honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, revealed that Lampang Province, EGAT, and Lampang Chamber of Commerce joined together to organize the 29th Mae Moh Half Marathon along with the Lampang Marathon. The reshaping of running events is one of the successful goals of smart economy and is in line with the country’s development plan under the Mae Moh Smart City Project. The event will promote tourism in Lampang Province during the end of the rainy season (October) up to winter (December) and will draw tourists and runners to visit Lampang Province after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic’s acute phase.

The highlight of Mae Moh Half Marathon which will be held on October 16 includes a new route. Previously, the route started from Mae Moh Wittaya School towards an uphill road and entered Mae Moh Power Plant. The new route, which meets the standards of Athletics Association of Thailand and is certified by World Athletics (only six running courses internationally certified in Thailand at the moment), will start at Mae Moh Power Plant and follow a route to discover more of Mae Moh Mine, Mae Moh Power Plant, important landmarks, and exclusive challenges in the electricity generation source of the Northern region.
