EGAT joins hands with partners to restore Nan Watershed Forests under “Three Forests for Four Benefits” principle
EGAT and Agri-Nature Foundation, Mekong River Basin Network have participated in reforestation covering an area of 30,000 rai in the voluntary activity of “We Do Good Deeds by Heart” and the project of “Three Forests for Four Benefits: 1M Rai for the King in Nan” on the occasion of HM the King’s Birthday.

On July 27, 2022, people in Nan Province, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Agri-Nature Foundation, and Si Nan National Park joined the voluntary activity of “We Do Good Deed by Heart” and the project of “Three Forests for Four Benefits: 1M Rai for the King in Nan.” On this occasion, Mr. Viboon Vaewbundit, Governor of Nan Province, presided over the activity in tribute to the late King Rama IX, aiming to restore watershed forests, degraded forests, and other areas of Nan Province, in a concrete and sustainable manner. Held at Fai Mai Park, Si Sa Ket Sub-district Municipality, Na Noi District, Nan Province, the activity applied the royal principles of sufficient economy and Khok-Nong-Na Model to develop the areas and raise the quality of life.
The project of “Three Forests for Four Benefits: 1M Rai for the King in Nan” is in accordance with the integrated reforestation of EGAT’s Participatory One-Million-Rai Reforestation Project which aims to sustainably solve impacts of drought and environmental degradation by applying community participation, including planting and nurturing forests. The project focuses on planting trees that can be harvested for produce and wood, which can also be shared and sold to create income in the future. The forest is a source of abundance that will help people live with forests sustainably, as guided by the Royal Initiative Volunteer Project Operations Center.
EGAT has collaborated with Agri-Nature Foundation, Mekong River Basin Network that carried out the Three Forests for Four Benefits principle. The knowledge gained was shared with community leaders of Na Noi District, Na Muen District, and Wiang Sa District located in Si Nan National Park. The success was further extended, including 30,000-rai watershed reforestation in Nan Province. EGAT will continue the support until the project’s goal is achieved.
