EGAT and Thai Yamaha Motor join forces to test “YAMAHA E01” before product launch

EGAT has joined hands with Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. to test the electric motorcycles, YAMAHA E01, and install a battery charging station in the area of Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant in Nakhon Ratchasima Province before launching the product, in accordance with Thailand’s goal of carbon dioxide reduction under the Carbon Neutrality Policy.

On September 15, 2022, Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. represented by Mr. Tatsuya Nozaki, Chief Executive Officer and the management team delivered “YAMAHA E01” to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under the collaboration of product testing for the electric motorcycles. On behalf of EGAT, Mr. Suttipong Chalermkiat, Assistant Governor – Sustainability Management; Mr. Somsak Prangthong, Assistant Director – Demand Side Management and Social Affairs Division; and EGAT executives received the electric motorcycles at Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

Mr. Tatsuya Nozaki, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. said that the company has conducted the project: Proof of Concept for “YAMAHA E01” to collect customer feedback to improve the performance of the electric motorcycles before launching the product to the market. The project is a collaboration between the company and EGAT that is a key player in electric vehicle development in Thailand to test “YAMAHA E01,” install the battery charging station, and provide maintenance for the whole testing duration.

Mr. Suttipong Chalermkiat, EGAT Assistant Governor – Sustainability Management said that EGAT will use the YAMAHA E01 electric motorcycles in the area of Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant for conducting a study and collecting the data of product usage, in order to improve the product to meet the customers’ demand in every dimension. The collaboration will develop and support energy-efficient technologies to protect the environment as well as reduce particulate matter and air pollution in line with the sustainable greenhouse gas reduction policy.
