EGAT wins ‘Excellence’ award in competency certification on occupational standards 2022
22 September 2022EGAT won an ‘Excellence’ award in competency certification on occupational standards 2022, held by TPQI in the event “Professional Qualification for Workforce,” reflecting its intention to raise occupational standards on energy and renewable energy at an international level.
Miss Noppavan Kanjanavan, Deputy Governor – Administration of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), as EGAT representative, received ‘Excellence’ award in competency certification on occupational standards 2022, resulting from the operation of EGAT Personnel Competency Certification Centers since 2021. The event “Professional Qualification for Workforce” was held by the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization) (TPQI) and presided over by Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Labour Minister, on September 14, 2022, at Royal Thai Army Club, Bangkok.
EGAT Deputy Governor – Administration said that EGAT was honored to receive the award reflecting its determination to raise occupational standards on energy and renewable energy at an international level. EGAT Competency Certification Centers were established in 2021 to certify personnel on energy and renewable energy. The center issued certifications on power generation at the beginning and expanded the service to cover power transmission and hydropower generation. Now, it is underway to achieve the ISO/IEC 17024. EGAT Personnel Competence Certification Centers include 1) EGAT Headquarters Center, 2) Sai Noi Occupational Certification Center in Nonthaburi Province, 3) Bang Pakong Training Center in Chachoengsao Province, 4) Mae Moh Training Center in Lampang Province, and 5) Tha Thung Na Training Center in Kanchanaburi Province.
Developing human capital and raising the competency of Thai workforce are vital policies in the 20-year National Strategy, aiming to increase the competitiveness and improve the qualities and skills of personnel and workforce in Thailand. With occupational standards, professional certifications, and competency development; the personnel and workforce are upgraded, gain more income and happiness, have a better quality of life, and acquire equivalent educational qualifications, to support future economic and industrial mobilization for the development of Thailand.
