Fire occurs at cooling tower of Chana Power Plant Block 1; no impact on power supply
7 October 2022EGAT informed the fire occurring at the cooling tower of Chana Power Plant Block 1 was under control.
Mr. Prasertsak Cherngchawano, Deputy Governor – Strategy acting the spokesperson of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) revealed that at 11.30 a.m. on October 7, 2022, the fire occurred at the cooling tower of Chana Power Plant, Block 1 in Khlong Pia Sub-district, Chana District, Songkhla Province. There were no injuries and fatalities in the incident. After EGAT had contacted Chana District Office, Thepha Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and Chana Police Station to help control the incident, the fire was under control. EGAT assured that the incident did not affect the power supply to the public and surrounding communities. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
