MEA, PEA, EGAT, OR, and EA develop applications sharing locations of different EV charging stations

Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, on behalf of President of the National Committee of Electric Vehicle, assigned five organizations which are Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), PTT Oil and Retail Business PCL (OR), and Energy Absolute PCL (EA) to jointly develop and manage a central platform of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for the utmost benefit of EV users. The five organizations have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on EV charging application networks to support the EV deployment in Thailand. In the first phase, the project enables the location searching of EV charging stations of five organizations through the applications: MEA EV (MEA), PEA VOLTA (PEA), EleXA (EGAT), EV Station PluZ (OR), and EA Anywhere (EA); which has been under operation testing since October 15, 2023 to collect the data for the next phase of development.

Mr. Jaturong Suriyasasin, MEA Deputy Governor – Business, revealed that MEA has continuously supported the EV deployment in Thailand. In 2022, which is the 10th anniversary of MEA’s EV promotion, MEA has conducted studies and research relating to charging stations and EVs, coupled with developing MEA EV Application to facilitate the EV users. MEA is ready to integrate the data for the public benefit.

Mr. Sompong Dumrongongtragool, PEA Deputy Governor (Business and Marketing), said that PEA is pleased to be a part of connecting PEA VOLTA with the network of allies. This project will facilitate EV users across the country by using the same feature of the network of charging stations. The satisfaction and convenience of the customers is a main goal of PEA VOLTA.

Mr. Warit Rattanachuen, EGAT Assistant Governor – Research, Innovation and Business Development, on behalf of Project Management Office, said that EGAT has supported the EV transition by creating an EV ecosystem for using EVs in daily life with confidence via EleXA Application. This project aims to create convenience and good experience for EV users by using the single map for checking the status of all stations nationwide.

Ms. Rajsuda Rungsiyakull, OR Senior Executive Vice President, assigned as ORion Project Director, said that OR has pushed ahead with using electricity in traveling and transportation, aiming at being a leader in EV Ecosystem. One of OR’s missions is to strengthen integrated energy business for seamless mobility. This linkage of networks of charging stations with EV Station PluZ will facilitate the users and create a better experience.

Mr. Amorn Sapthaweekul, EA Deputy Chief Executive Officer, said that EA has continuously expanded the service of “EA Anywhere” charging stations and is pleased to play a part of starting the connection of the network. The project will create confidence for those interested in using EVs and make the location searching of EV charging stations easier for the users, ensuring the readiness of the public charging network in Thailand in response to the EV transition.
This five-organization cooperation is a pilot project contributing to another collaboration in integrating operations of charging network for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and battery electric vehicles of 12 organizations in the next phase.
