EGAT rolls out EV Charging Floor model for office building – home installation

EGAT and the world’s leading automotive companies showcased EVs at EV Charging Floor with Thailand’s greatest number of EV connectors at 66, installed on Floor 2, Parking Building, EGAT Headquarters, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province. The EV Charging Floor is a model for developers of EV charging stations for office buildings, houses, and parking lots in response to the EV transition in the future.

On February 22, 2023, Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, presided over the opening ceremony of EleX by EGAT charging station at EV Charging Floor – Floor 2, Parking Building, Headquarters of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province. Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, EGAT Governor; executives of EGAT and EGAT Group; and representatives from relevant organizations and the world’s leading automotive companies also attended the ceremony.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy revealed that many countries, including Thailand, have changed to use EVs as an alternative vehicle for traveling to ease air pollution problems. The government has established the National Electric Vehicle Committee (EV Board) and set measures to promote EV deployment under the 30@30 policy which aims to increase the manufacturing capacity of zero-emission vehicles to 30% of total automotive production by 2030. He admired EGAT for developing the EV ecosystem for Thailand in various aspects, including increasing EV charging stations nationwide to ensure public access and boost confidence in traveling by EVs. This EV Charging Floor marks the beginning of encouraging EGAT personnel to switch to EVs and is a model for other leading organizations to promote EV transition. 

EGAT Governor said that the EV Charging Floor installed at EGAT parking lots takes place due to the intention to support the personnel and boost their confidence to switch to EVs. EGAT has transformed the existing parking lots into the EV Charging Floor with Thailand’s greatest number of EV connectors. This EV Charging Floor features sixty-six 7.4 kW connectors with AC Normal Charge, and 110 parking slots (including waiting slots) to be a model of EV installation at other office buildings, accommodations, and parking lots for those interested, which will benefit the society in the future.

On this occasion, 11 world’s leading automotive companies which were Audi, BMW, BYD, GWM, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, MG, Mitsubishi, NETA, Nissan, and Toyota jointly displayed their EVs to ensure that the EleX by EGAT can serve all brands of EVs. Currently, there are 104 stations of EleX by EGAT and EleXA allies nationwide. EGAT aims to increase the charging stations to 150 stations within 2023 to make sure that EV users can travel countrywide with more confidence.
