EGAT designs model air purifier tower to capture PM2.5 and produce pure air for the future
19 April 2023EGAT launched a model air purifier tower using plasma technique designed by EGAT researchers and inventors to mitigate air pollution. It can capture over 80% of PM2.5 and purify the air with a highest rate of 30,000 m3/hour, covering a radius of 250 m in order to produce pure air for the future.

Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), revealed that the PM2.5 situation has become more severe across the country and is affecting everyone. The development of the model air purifier tower for the community using plasma technique is a result of a brainstorming session between EGAT’s researchers and inventors to help mitigate air pollution in the country. It can capture PM2.5 with an efficiency of over 80% and purify the air with a highest rate of 30,000 m3/hour, covering a radius of 250 m. The air purifier can be installed in various areas with particulate matter problems or air pollution and is another way to deal with the extreme PM2.5 situation. As for the model air purifier tower installed at EGAT, it will be monitored to improve its efficiency and will be further installed in other areas, especially in the northern region which has a high concentration of particulate matter and has been facing air pollution problems for many years.
This air purifier tower innovation is six meters high and weighs around six tons, using plasma creation technique in order to capture PM2.5. The knowledge gained from creating the air purifier can be developed further to provide services in inspecting the efficiency of air-filtering equipment, such as sanitary masks and in-house air purifiers as well.
