EGAT Diamond Service, a company of EGAT Group, launched the first locally produced and certified DC fast charger under the EleX by EGAT charging station at Wang Noi Power Plant. It aims to enhance the competitiveness of domestic DC fast charger manufacturers as well as boost confidence and save travel time for EV users.

On June 19, 2023, Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT); Mr. Masahito Kataoka, Director of EGAT Diamond Service Co.,Ltd. (EDS) and a representative of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (MPW-AP); and Mr. Natthavut Piriyajitta, General Manager of EGAT Diamond Service Co.,Ltd jointly launched the DC fast charger produced by EGAT Diamond Service Co.,Ltd at EleX by EGAT charging station of Wang Noi Power Plant, Ayutthaya Province.

Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of EGAT said that as a developer of EleX by EGAT charging stations, EGAT recognizes the opportunity to strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem during the period of Thailand’s clean energy transition. In addition, as a company of EGAT Group, EDS has experience in equipment, machinery, and power plant spare parts management, thus earning trust from both domestic and international customers. Apart from this expertise, the company also has the potential to expand its business to other related areas, such as the development of DC fast chargers that meet the needs of charging station owners and EV users. This will not only enhance competitiveness among domestic charger manufacturers but also bring benefits to the electric vehicle industry, contributing to sustainable economic and environmental development for Thailand in the future.

Mr. Natthavut Piriyajitta, General Manager of EDS, stated that EDS has developed the first Thai-produced and certified DC fast charger. With its reliability and stability, it could supply electricity efficiently. The charger can communicate and connect with users through an application system, supporting the charging of various EV models which are available currently. It has also successfully undergone testing according to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards at Electrical and Electronic Products Testing Center (PTEC). As a result, business owners can now own internationally standardized chargers at an affordable price and have convenient and fast access to post-sales services.

The DC fast charger, manufactured by EDS, has a maximum capacity of up to 150 kW, allowing rapid charging. It has been installed at Wang Noi Power Plant in Ayutthaya Province to be the first location. Moreover, EDS, in collaboration with EleX by EGAT, is preparing to expand the network of DC fast chargers throughout the country. EGAT has already opened 120 EleX by EGAT charging stations along with partner stations in the EleXA network nationwide. The goal is to expand the charging station network to a total of over 180 stations by the end of 2023. This expansion aims to save travel time for EV users and contribute to reduced pollution on the roads. EDS is a joint venture company with a 45% investment from EGAT, 30% from Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific (MPW-AP), 15% from Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), and 10% from RATCH Group.
