4 September 2023

EGAT is going to host the event of 30th Anniversary of Demand Side Management (DSM) with the launch of new No.5 energy-saving label to elevate energy conservation and concretely reduce carbon emissions, moving toward the country’s Carbon Neutrality goal. Let’s shop No.5 energy-saving electrical appliances at special prices and have a chance to win various prizes on September 20-24, at Hall 9, IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani.

On August 31, 2023, Mr. Prasertsak Cherngchawano, Deputy Governor – Strategy of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), presided over the press conference of the 30th Anniversary of Demand Side Management (DSM) and LED Expo Thailand 2023. On this occasion, Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager of IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre, Mr. Noppadol Jaisue, Vice President – Technical of the Consulting Engineers Association of Thailand (CEAT), Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanyaporn Bstieler, Director of Lighting Research & Innovation Center (LRIC) of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Mr. Piyawat Mitchee, Marketing Manager of W.I.P. EGAT Deputy Governor – Strategy revealed that EGAT is determined to ensure the country’s power security; while transitioning toward clean energy. This involves promoting energy efficiency and taking care of communities and the environment toward Carbon Neutrality by 2050 through the Triple S strategy: Sources Transformation – increasing the proportion of electricity generation from renewable energy sources and developing alternative technologies to support renewable energy, Sink Co-creation – increasing carbon capture and storage sites, and Support Measures Mechanism – encouraging public participation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions especially through the Demand Side Management (DSM). EGAT has been implementing DSM since 1993 under the 3Es strategy including: Energy Saving Equipment – developing energy efficiency criteria and energy-saving labels for 22 products; Energy Saving Building – promoting energy-saving measures in buildings, the selection of efficient materials and electrical equipment for houses, offices, educational institutions, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, and factories; and Energy Saving Habit – fostering energy-saving habits and knowledge among the youth through the “Green Classroom” project implemented in over 1,300 classrooms. Over the past 30 years, this initiative has led to a reduction of electricity consumption by over 35 billion kWh or approximately 170 billion Baht. EGAT is preparing to introduce the new No. 5 energy-saving label starting from January 1, 2024 and No. 5 School Project for the first time at the 30th DSM Anniversary event, on September 20-24, 2023, at Hall 9, IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani. The event aims to enhance public energy management and carbon emissions reduction, showcasing No. 5 home model with future energy innovations, 30th year of DSM exhibition, and Green School Project’s innovations.

In the event, there will be also the activity “30th Year of DSM, 30-minute Sale” with No. 5 products at special prices from over 60 manufacturers, the chance to win various prizes when shopping totaling 500 Baht or more, and old light bulbs exchange for LED bulbs of 100 sets per day (only on September 20-22, 2023).

There will be the LED Expo Thailand 2023 showcasing international-level electrical and lighting technologies to provide a cutting-edge experience of LED technology and smart electrical systems at Halls 7-8, IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani. In these events, EGAT will display Thailand Pavilion Powered by EGAT exhibition, which gathers LED and smart lighting technologies under the concept “Sustainable and Efficient Lighting Solutions” and provide a platform for business negotiations with Thai entrepreneurs.

“EGAT invites those interested to visit the events and choose No. 5 products to promote the use of high-efficiency equipment for sustainable quality of life, eco-friendliness, and carbon emissions reduction, contributing to achieving the country’s Carbon Neutrality goal in the future.”
