Discover “Enchanting Bang Kruai,” green tourism festival on this October 27 – 29
27 October 2023EGAT, Bang Kruai Municipality and TAT join hands to organize “Enchanting Bang Kruai” event under the concept “Bang Kruai Pop Lifestyle,” with various activities highlighting the local way of life and food, held near Bangkok from October 27 – 29.
On October 27, 2023, Mr. Suthee Thongyaem, Governor of Nonthaburi Province, presided over the “Enchanting Bang Kruai” event, held under the concept “Bang Kruai Pop Lifestyle,” which Mrs. Patcharin Rapeepornpong, Deputy Governor – Finance and Accounting (CFO) of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Mr. Chanyut Sewartsuwan, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Office, and the public attended. Held at EGAT Learning Center – Headquarters in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, this event aims to promote community-based tourism in Bang Kruai, a community known for its cultural uniqueness, create a new tourism destination near Bangkok, stimulate the economy with increasing spending, and generate income for the residents in Bang Kruai District.
Governor of Nonthaburi Province said that Nonthaburi Province is ready to promote a new way of life following the BCG Model for sustainable development. This involves applying cultural capital, natural resources, and biological diversity to develop and generate income for the community. This event organized by EGAT is a good opportunity for the community to showcase the charm of their cultural tourism destinations, way of life, local products, and food, and boost the local economy through goods and services, strengthening the community.
Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Office, said that the “Enchanting Bang Kruai” event will make the Bang Kruai community widely known to be a new tourism destination in Nonthaburi Province. It is suitable for tourists who have limited time to enjoy nearby travelling experiences. This aligns with the tourism campaign slogan, “Make the Right Moment Happen,” which supports the growth of the domestic tourism market. It is also well-suited for multi-generational families, promoting responsible and balanced tourism practices.
EGAT Deputy Governor – Finance and Accounting added that EGAT organizes the “Enchanting Bang Kruai” to stimulate the economy and generate income for the community while developing a new tourism route near Bangkok. The various interesting activities include the exhibition: “From Root to Seedling: The Sustainable Happiness of Bang Kruai” displaying environmentally-friendly tourism practices and “Enchanting Bang Kruai – Bang Kruai Pop Lifestyle” narrating the story of the Bang Kruai community through photography, and a discussion panel: “Bang Kruai from a New Perspective with Non-disturbing Tourism” with tourism experts and local guides. The event also features DIY activities such as handkerchief dyeing with natural dyes; One-day trips in three routes in Bang Kruai District which are nature route, historical route, and worship route. In the evening, the visitors can watch outdoor movies at Chao Phraya riverside and enjoy food and shopping from over 20 local community stores in Bang Kruai.
