TNC-CIGRE Seminar 2026 highlights power grid resilience for energy transition

19 January 2026

TNC-CIGRE, in collaboration with power sector networks, hosted the TNC-CIGRE Seminar 2026 to strengthen power system security through grid resilience, supporting energy transition toward a low-carbon society, sustainably.

On January 15, 2026, Thailand National Committee of CIGRE (TNC-CIGRE) organized the TNC-CIGRE Seminar 2026 under the theme “Power Grid Resilience in the Era of Energy Transition.” This academic seminar was presided over by Mr. Sanay Treekhan, Deputy Governor – Transmission System Operation of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and TNC-CIGRE Vice Chairman. The event drew over 300 participants from educational institutions and private and public sectors to exchange knowledge and insights on power system security and sustainability to support Thailand’s energy transition, at the Auditorium and the Press Conference Room, EGAT 50th Anniversary Building, EGAT Headquarters, Nonthaburi Province.

In this event, Mr. Narin Phoawanich, EGAT Governor, stated in the special keynote that amid the energy transition, EGAT has accelerated power grid resilience for grid modernization through the development of advanced forecasting technologies, digital substations, large-scale energy storage systems, and pumped-storage hydropower plants to tackle the fluctuation of renewable energy. Meanwhile, studies of new alternative technologies are being conducted to achieve the goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2050. EGAT is also balancing the Energy Trilemma: power security, affordability, and sustainability while supporting regional collaboration through ASEAN Power Grid, strengthening the regional energy security in the future.

The TNC-CIGRE Seminar 2026 was organized as an academic forum to exchange knowledge on power system and power grid security for Thailand’s energy transition. The seminar featured a keynote address, technical exchanges, poster presentations, and exhibitions showcasing advanced power technologies.
