On March 5, 2025, Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with representatives from leading department stores and online shops for the No.5 A/C Cleaning Project under the campaign “Turn Summertime into Saving Season” to offer A/C cleaning service discounts of 200 Baht for A/Cs up to 24,000 BTU that are affixed with Energy-saving Label No.5, with a total of 15,000 quotas. Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, EGAT Governor, revealed that global warming has resulted in the excessive use of A/Cs and unavoidable high electricity bills. Therefore, EGAT has joined with department stores and high-efficient electrical appliance distributors to launch the campaign “Turn Summertime into Saving Season” which includes promoting the use of Label No.5 A/Cs and A/C maintenance to help reduce the electricity bills, reduce CO2 emissions, extend A/C service life in accordance with the principles of Circular Economy, and promote efficient use of resources and environmental friendliness. Cleaning the A/C every 6 months could conserve energy over 23 units per A/C per month. The entire duration of the project will result in energy conservation of 2.14 million units (equivalent to electricity cost reduction of 9 million Baht) and CO2 reduction of 1,119 tCO2 per 1 round of cleaning, or every 6 months.

The campaign includes 12 department stores, namely HomePro, Mega Home, Power Buy, Thai Wasadu, BnB Home, Do Home, Global House, The Mall, Emporium, Siam Paragon, Hardware House, as well as NocNoc online shop and will open for registration from March 15 – June 15, 2025, or until the quota limit is reached (each household is limited to one quota).
