Dr. Prasert Sinsukprasert, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, stated that the ministry has enhanced and developed Thailand’s energy conservation plan with a focus on technological and innovative measures. The plan aims to support technological changes and energy use behaviors, covering all target groups and encouraging public participation to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050.  EGAT’s Energy-saving Label No.5, which has been implemented for 30 years, and DEDE’s Energy Efficiency Label, are widely recognized as model projects on energy conservation at the national, ASEAN, and international levels. They comply with the government’s policy and significantly contribute to the country’s energy saving. Therefore, the Ministry of Energy has adopted a policy to combine these two labels to ensure “double trust” with a focus on value creation as well as the requirements of electricity users and entrepreneurs. The new version of Label No.5 covers 45 products, including electrical appliances and other related items. They will be launched to the market on January 16, 2026.

Dr. Narin Phoawanich, Deputy Governor – Fuel and Acting Governor of EGAT, added that for over 30 years, EGAT has implemented the Energy-saving Label No.5 program to raise the standards of electrical appliances while encouraging electricity users to choose energy-efficient products. In the past, Label No.5 was modified to reflect higher efficiency, with 3 stars and 5 stars. Presently, there are 27 products affixed with Label No.5 with a total of 520 million labels issued. The program has helped reduce electricity consumption by 40,000 million units and CO2 emissions by 22 million tons. This is equivalent to planting 1,720 million trees (data as of August 2025). EGAT also expanded the implementation of Label No.5 to cover houses, buildings, schools, and hotels, which encourages the change of electricity usage behaviors. The program has received strong cooperation from every sector, which contributes to its success. The collaboration with DEDE will support the development of the new Label No.5, driving Thailand toward a green and sustainable future.

In the event, plaques of appreciation were presented to 54 partner agencies of the Label No.5 program. There were also a 30-year Label No.5 exhibition and a panel discussion with the topic “Love and Bond to Label No.5” participated by Thai Toshiba Electric Industries Co., Ltd., Star (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Nomjitt Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
