EGAT and Nordic countries to accelerate clean energy collaboration
17 February 2026
Mr. Supachai Koonsad, Assistant Governor – Research, Innovation and Business Development of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), along with EGAT personnel, extended their congratulations on the occasion of Nordic Day 2026, to celebrate regional political collaborations among the Nordic countries. On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Anna Hammargren, Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand; H.E. Ms. Eeva Kristiina Kuvaja, Ambassador of Finland to Thailand; H.E. Mr. Danny Annan, Ambassador of Denmark to Thailand; and H.E. Ms. Astrid Emilie Helle, Ambassador of Norway to Thailand, welcomed the delegation at the Royal Norwegian Embassy Residence, Sukhumvit 38, Bangkok, in early February 2026.

EGAT shared its vision with representatives of the public and private sectors of the Nordic countries as a strategic partner, aiming at driving clean energy innovations to support the country’s goal of Carbon Neutrality by 2050. EGAT intended to expand the collaboration to further develop Thailand’s Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) system to meet the 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) standard. Previously, EGAT has entered into the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Business Sweden to study hydrogen, Hydrogen Energy Storage System (HESS), and biomass, leading to feasibility studies of pumped storage hydropower plants and the rehabilitation of Mae Moh Mine, with the aim to restore ecological balance and enhance energy efficiency.
