Economic aspect
Srinagarind Dam has implemented the royal philosophy of “Sufficiency Economy” continuously since 1999 in the project “Biological way of life for sustainable development.” To increase the understanding of interdependence between nature and the way of life of human beings, the project activity focuses on the use of effective microorganisms instead of chemicals in 4 areas, namely, agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and environmental management. The activity comprises knowledge sharing with the community around the power plant in order to be self-reliant, to reduce their expense so that they can be a strong community.

Social aspect
On 15 June every year which marks the anniversary of the dam opening, EGAT gives university scholarships to local students of Si Sawat Pittayakhom School to provide them with more educational opportunities. In sports, EGAT, in cooperation with the International Chess Association of Thailand and Takkasila Din Daeng Thai Chess Club, supports chess playing of schools around the power plant.

Environmental aspect
Srinagarind Dam has implemented the project of watershed forest and community forest conservation to raise awareness and increase the understanding of the royal philosophy concerning the weir construction and reforestation in the area around the power plant. Volunteers are available to join the community in fighting against forest fire. A team of volunteers “Fire Hawk” of Srinagarind Dam is ready to help the firemen in forest fire fighting.

Drought management
In 2020, EGAT Srinagarind Dam donated 174,000 liters of water for consumption to the community which suffered from drought.

Development fund for community around the power plant
With the approval of the cabinet and the resolution of the National Energy Policy Council, the development fund for the community around the power plant was raised from electricity sale for the development of the quality of life of the community around the power plant in the vicinity of 5 km. The fund is used for occupational development, support of education, religion, culture, sports, and entertainment as well as for health and environment.

Reforestation project
Under the project of reforestation of watershed forest in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol which has started in 2011, more than 100,000 trees were planted in the area around the dam. Moreover, to restore the fertility of the watershed forest, EGAT, in cooperation with several local organizations, prepared the project of 1,120 weirs construction in honor of the Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarind.

Occupational promotion for the community around the dam

EGAT’s team of volunteers has shared knowledge of sufficiency economy with the community so that they can use the knowledge in organic farming which is free from toxic substances and cost saving. An example of successful activities is the project of household account preparation of Ban Phu Nam Priao, Dan Mae Chalap Sub-district, Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi Province which can make more saving for each household.
