Mitr Phol Group and EGAT signed an MOU to support the research and development of innovations and technologies on renewable energy. The parties aim to utilize the existing resources for the utmost benefit to ensure secure and sustainable growth, lessen environmental impacts, diminish PM2.5 pollution, and reduce combustion, a factor of global warming.

Mr. Buntoeng Vongkusolkit, Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Mitr Phol Group, and Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), entered into the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on research and development of renewable energy and clean energy innovations, including biomass and others, moving towards secure, sustainable, and eco-friendly growth. The executives of both parties also attended the ceremony, held at JW Marriott Hotel, Bangkok, on February 10, 2022.

EGAT Governor revealed that EGAT and Mitr Phol Group have a long-stand relationship and have applied their strengths to make good things happen. Mitr Phol Group has put the circular economy into practice to make the most of its existing resources; while EGAT has applied its expertise in power plant maintenance for modifying the boilers to use sugar cane leaf as fuel for power generation in Mitr Phol Group’s biomass power plant. He also pointed out other collaborations on renewable energy, clean energy, and circular economy, which are floating solar projects and the development of Leonardite and Synthetic Gypsum, by-products of Mah Moh Power Plant.

Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Mitr Phol Group said that Mitr Phol Group has carried out business related to sugar cane, sugar, and biomass industry and added value to sugar cane in all production processes, leading to business expansion. EGAT and Mitr Phol Group have been working together for a long time from signing Power Purchase Agreement, operating biomass power plant using bagasse as fuel, to applying sugar cane leaf, a yearly large amount of agriculture waste, as fuel for power generation, with the knowledge from EGAT. In addition to generating income for farmers, the project can reduce combustion, a major factor of global warming, and mitigate air pollution from PM2.5.
