EGAT asks Thais to save energy in 60+ Earth Hour 2022

28 March 2022

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) jointly expressed its intention to solve global warming in the 60+ Earth Hour 2022 and asked the public to reduce their electricity consumption to tackle environmental issues and the energy crisis.

On March 26, 2022, in the 60+ Earth Hour 2022, held by Bangkok, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and networks, Mr. Suttipong Chalermkiat, EGAT Assistant Governor – Sustainability Management, revealed that EGAT would like to take part in solving global warming in 4 aspects. For mass transportation, EGAT has promoted the deployment of electric motorbike taxi in Bang Kruai District to achieve EGAT Carbon Neutrality Goal to reduce fuel consumption by 56,800 liters per year and greenhouse gas emissions of 94 tCO2 per year. Moreover, reducing EGAT’s power consumption by 20%, increasing green spaces in its Headquarters, and promoting waste segregation in the office are among the measures.

EGAT also encourages the public to mitigate environmental problems and the energy crisis with easy means, such as using electric appliances with No. 5 power-saving labels, switching off electrical devices after using, and wearing a breathable-fabric shirt instead of a suit.
