EGAT and NSM join forces to mold junior influencers to create outstanding energy content

EGAT joined hands with NSM to mold junior communicators into influencers in the energy field, help develop professional media production skills, change complicated energy topics into outstanding content for the new generation, and build sustainable energy consumption values.

Mr. Chaiwut Lakmuang, Director of Demand Side Management and Social Affairs Division, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), along with Dr. Peeranut Kanhadilok, Director of National Science Awareness Development Center, National Science Museum (NSM), launched the activity ‘Junior Influencer for Youth Power @Bang Kruai’ to enhance and develop media production skills of junior influencers in the energy field on May 25, 2022, at EGAT Learning Center – Headquarters, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province.

Mr. Chaiwut Lakmuang said that the activity ‘Junior Influencer for Youth Power @Bang Kruai’ is a cooperation between EGAT and NSM on the development of junior influencers, to create inspiration, drive activities relating to energy and environmental conservation, and change the complicated energy topic into outstanding content for the new generation. The activity will lead to the expansion of the green learning society network from schools to communities, the creation of a green community model under the Bang Kruai Green Community Project, and the development of energy and environmental management in order to raise the community’s quality of life towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2025. A total of 150 students, separated into 3 classes with 50 students/class, from grades 1-9 in the area of Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province will participate in the activity. The first class was held during May 25-26, 2022 to improve communication and production skills trained by professional experts at EGAT Learning Center – Headquarters, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province. After the training, students will produce a 3-minute video about energy and environmental conservation, greenhouse gas reduction from energy management, waste management, or planting trees in households and schools. There will be two categories awarded; Team Category: The first, second, and third place will receive a scholarship of 10,000 Baht, 8,000 Baht, and 6,000 Baht respectively as well as a trophy; Educational Institution Category: The three most liked and shared videos on YouTube and Facebook with not less than 2,000 likes and shares combined will receive 14,000 Baht/school as well as a trophy. The winning videos will also be featured on various EGAT channels.

Dr. Peeranut Kanhadilok added that the youth participating in the activity will learn essential skills from professional experts, such as successful communication with target groups, basics of taking pictures and videos, how to be a professional anchor, personality development, and basics of acting, so they can become influencers that create interesting content about energy and the environment and help build awareness about sustainable energy consumption and environmental care to the youth and public.
