EGAT complies with the government policy of electric vehicle support in the government sector by opening the ‘EleX by EGAT’ charging station with four slots at the Government House to support APEC meetings and promote BCG – Zero Waste by paving the parking area with bricks made from bottom ash, the by-product of Mae Moh Power Plant.

On November 15, 2022 General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence chaired the opening ceremony of ‘EleX by EGAT’ charging station at the Government House to be a model of EV promotion in the government sector and accelerate EV transition. The event was also attended by Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy; Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Finance; Mr. Somboon Norkaew, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy; Mr. Disatat Hotrakit, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister; Mr. Prateep Keeratireka, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, Political Affairs; Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, Political Affairs acting the Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office; and Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, EGAT Governor said that as the Government has assigned EGAT to take part in building the EV ecosystem, EGAT joined hands with the Government House to open the charging station with the aim to reduce GHG emissions in the energy and transport sectors, driving Thailand to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero Emissions by 2065 as stated by the Prime Minister in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), as well as promote Thailand to be the world’s leading EV parts and components manufacturer. The EleX by EGAT charging station at the Government House is open for service for officers, the Government’s guests, and visitors of the Government House.

The EleX by EGAT charging station at the parking lot of Command Building 2, Government House has four charging slots comprising two slots of 22-kW AC normal charge and two slots of 60-kW DC fast charge. The Supernova charger by Wallbox was specially designed to reflect Thailand’s identity; it shows the country’s determination to reduce GHG emissions in the transport sector. The charging station will also support the service of EVs used by the world leaders participating in APEC 2022 between November 16-22, 2022.

Moreover, EGAT’s charging station promotes the BCG Model and Zero Waste agendas and is a model of sustainable development. EGAT added value to non-valuable things by using bricks made from bottom ash, a by-product of Mae Moh Power Plant in Lampang Province, to pave the parking area in front of the EleX by EGAT charging station. Currently, EGAT has opened 80 EleX by EGAT charging stations and network stations nationwide and plans to reach over 100 stations by the end of 2022 so that EV users can feel assured in their daily lives, as well as while traveling the country.
