Mr. Suttipong Chalermkiat, Deputy Governor – Generation 2, as the representative of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), joined the opening ceremony of the Expo in which EGAT showcased smart city innovations under the concept “EGAT Smart Energy for ALL,” at Hall 3-4, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok.

EGAT Deputy Governor – Generation 2 said that EGAT gives importance to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by developing electric power coupled with social and environmental responsibility, from upstream to downstream. For example, EGAT uses alternative clean energy in power generation and develops and applies advanced innovations in energy management to ensure power security in response to the current electricity consumption behavior of the public, raise the quality of life of Thais, and enhance sustainability for communities under the concept “EGAT Smart Energy for ALL.”
In Thailand Smart City Expo 2022, EGAT exhibits smart city innovations, under the concept “EGAT Smart Energy for ALL,” as follows:
1) Smart City: Mae Moh Smart City is developed as the first smart city model, situated in Mae Moh District, Lampang Province. It received a mark of smart city from the Sub-committee on Smart City Management on August 13, 2021, due to its transformation into a sustainable, livable, and low-carbon economic city. The city focuses on the participation of the public and communities and enhances the self-sufficiency after the decommissioning of Mae Moh Mine and Power Plant in 2051.
2) Smart Grid: Smart Grid Project in Mae Hong Son Province is developing the traditional power grid to be a smart grid by applying advanced innovations and clean energy for power generation to meet the demand, transform the city into a green tourist destination with the rising growth, and solve the power outage problem in Mae Hong Son Province.
3) Smart Energy: EGAT develops businesses and innovations to drive Thailand toward Carbon Neutrality and to be an Energy Solutions Provider to sustain the power security of the country with eco-friendly power generation. EGAT gets ready to serve the demand of all power users by providing EGAT Smart Energy Solutions such as real-time power usage tracking, AI-powered electrical appliance control, and energy storage system installation.

Moreover, EGAT also displays an exhibition of EGAT EV Business Solution, regarding fast-charging and safe “EleX by EGAT” charging stations in which EGAT and allies co-invested with the installation of 87 stations nationwide. EGAT aims at expanding the EleX by EGAT to over 100 stations within 2022, while developing a mobile application “EleXA,” EGAT Wallbox chargers, EGAT DC Quick Charger, and EV charging network operator platform “BackEN” to connect the EV ecosystem from generation system, transmission system, EV charging stations, EVs, to EV users. On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and his entourage paid a visit to EGAT’s booth.
