EGAT earns acclaim for Thailand with 11 invention awards at KIDE 2022
8 December 2022EGAT received three gold medals, two silver medals, two bronze medals, and four special prizes at the 2022 Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO (KIDE 2022).

Mr. Prasertsak Cherngchawano, Deputy Governor – Strategy and Spokesperson of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) revealed that EGAT aims to develop its electric power inventions and innovations to raise the quality of life of Thais. EGAT received a total of 11 awards for seven inventions at the 2022 Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO (KIDE 2022) held in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan comprising three gold medals, two silver medals, two bronze medals, and four special prizes from Poland, Croatia, Canada, and South Korea.

Gold Medal EGAT received gold medals for the MCR Underwater Survey Vehicle – Version 3 which can survey underwater up to 50 meters, thereby reducing risk for workers (the invention further received a special prize from Poland), U-Bolt Suspension Clamp Nut Set Installation Tool used for loose transmission towers without disrupting power supply, thereby not affecting the electricity users or economy and increasing the stability of electricity supply (the invention further received a special prize from Croatia), and Electric-powered Aerial Work Platform for Transmission Line Maintenance which reduces maintenance time due to the crew not having to climb the transmission lines for maintenance, and reduces power supply disruption time (the invention further received a special prize from Canada).
Silver Medal EGAT received silver medals for the Dehumidification Incubator Control System via Smartphone in the Repair of Instrument Transformers which helps monitor the temperature and humidity in the exhaust pipe of instrument transformers in real time via the Blynk Application, and Universal Gas Heater which helps remove or install turbine valves and other equipment with stud bolts, thereby saving maintenance cost as well as opportunity cost from shutting down power plants for maintenance.
Bronze Medal EGAT received bronze medals for the Transparent Gutter Cleaning Robot which reduces the risk of falling into the water while cleaning the gutter of the SCU system in power plants without stopping operations (the invention further received a special prize from South Korea), and Deadly Drill which helps with the underground monitoring equipment at the Mae Moh Mine dumping ground and can drill up to 150 meters, solve the problem of drilled holes collapsing, and reduce risk of monitoring equipment getting stuck in the holes.

“EGAT’s inventions strive to enhance power system security, reduce economic lost, and develop the quality of life of the community and environment in order to drive the country toward sustainability,” added Mr. Prasertsak Cherngchawano.
