Thousands of runners join “11th Korat Loifaa Marathon” amidst cool breeze and stunning view
13 December 2022Nakhon Ratchasima Province; Sports Authority of Thailand – Region 3, Nakhon Ratchasima Province; Tourism Authority of Thailand – Nakhon Ratchasima Province; and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) organized the “11th Korat Loifaa Marathon” to win Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Trophy. Thousands of runners ran amidst the cool breeze and stunning view of the upper reservoir and wind farm of Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant.
On December 10, 2022, Mr. Siam Sirimongkol, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province presided over the opening ceremony of Korat Loifaa Marathon 2022 to win Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Trophy. The event was also attended by Mr. Sucheep Meethom, EGAT Assistant Governor – Renewable Power Plant; Mr. Somchai Umpankan, Chief of Sikhio District; Mr. Kanaschon Srijaroen, Chief of Pak Chong District; Ms. Wadeerat Charoencoop, Chief Financial Officer, RATCH Group Public Company Limited; government and private agencies; as well as thousands of Thai and international runners at Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana’s upper reservoir, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

Mr. Siam Sirimongkol, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province said that since “Korat Loifaa Marathon” has been organized for 11 consecutive years, it proves the public’s positive feedback. In accordance with the provincial policy, the event encourages the people to work out, promotes the province to be a sports city, supports local tourism, and revives Nakhon Ratchasima tourism.

Mr. Sucheep Meethom, EGAT Assistant Governor – Renewable Power Plant added that Nakhon Ratchasima Province was declared to be a sports city as it has developed full scale of sports industry and promoted economy and sports tourism. By taking part in organizing the event since 2012, EGAT has found it successful every year, which leads to the sustainable development of local economy and tourism. Moreover, the place has been selected by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to be one of the five tourist destinations under the “Unseen New Series” of the north-eastern region and awarded excellent tourism of Kinnaree Award 2021.
This year’s race comprised three categories: 21.1 km Half Marathon, 10.5 km Mini Marathon, and 5 km Fun Run. The winner of Half Marathon received the royal trophy and 12,000 Baht cash, while the winner of Mini Marathon received the royal trophy and 10,000 Baht cash.




Besides, there were three special prizes, namely 3,000 Baht cash, 2,000 Baht cash, and 1,000 Baht cash for runners in the fancy outfits who received the most number of Likes.
Apart from good health and happiness, the runners and tourists could enjoy the stunning view of Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant’s upper reservoir and shop for community products.
