EGAT wins 4 awards at ITEX 2023, showcasing innovative potential of Thai people
25 May 2023EGAT won one gold medal, two silver medals, and one special prize in the 34th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2023), creating a reputation and reflecting Thai innovative potential.


Mr. Prasertsak Cherngchawano, Deputy Governor – Strategy and Spokesperson of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), revealed the determination to developing research, innovation, and inventions of EGAT to enhance the quality of life for Thai people. EGAT won four awards from three projects at the ITEX 2023, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which is a significant international platform for showcasing inventions and innovations in the ASEAN region. The awards include one gold medal, two silver medals, and one special prize from South Korea.

The gold medal award is for the project “Water Solution Drone,” an automatic drone for measuring water temperature, pH, and real-time dissolved oxygen level as well as collecting
automatic water sampling for quality analysis before releasing it to waterways for the society and environment.


A silver medal award is for the project “Improvement of Slip Ring Polishing Process without Removing Cooling and Lubricant Systems,” an invention that allows immediate polishing of slip rings without sending them to a factory for repairing, resulting in the reduction of average maintenance time from 6 days to just 3 hours. This project also received a special prize from Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) of Korea. Additionally, another project winning the silver medal is the “Development of High-Voltage Power Line Cutting Process for Installing 230 kV Insulators (4 Bundle)” without laying high-voltage power lines on the ground, reducing the time for power outage at high-voltage power stations from 4 days to only 1 day and enhancing the security and reliability of the power system.

This is in line with EGAT’s vision: Innovate Power Solutions for a Better Life,” concluded Mr. Prasert.
