During the event, EGAT also held the EGAT Green Learning Society awarding ceremony for model schools with outstanding achievements in energy and environmental conservation under the Green Learning Room Project totaling seven activities, namely 1) No.5 Green School: energy and environmental conservation integration in all school activities, 2) EGAT Green Seed, 3) EGAT Green Talk: development of the youth to become communicators and youth leaders in energy and environmental conservation, 4) Low Carbon School: energy conservation and waste management in schools, 5) Low Carbon School Community: energy conservation at student homes, 6) Green School, a model school in energy and environmental conservation, and 7) No.5 Energy Efficiency Building in Educational Institutions: educational buildings with energy management that is systematic and efficient. As a result of the activities at schools and student homes of over 1.23 hundred thousand households since 2014 – present, the project was able to reduce cumulative energy usage by over 42.73 million units, save cumulative electricity charge by over 187 million baht, and reduce cumulative carbon dioxide emissions by over 22 million tons. It is expected that, in 2023, energy consumption will be reduced as much as in the past, which is in line with the policy to move toward low carbon society sustainably.
