Get ready for “30th Mae Moh Half Marathon” to explore green routes in Lampang
16 August 2023The 30th Mae Moh Half Marathon, “Ready to Zero Carbon,” welcomes all runners nationwide to explore low-carbon experience on green routes this October 15. Apply now until August 31!


On August 14, 2023, Lampang Province, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and Lampang Chamber of Commerce organized the press conference for the running event to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, the 30th Mae Moh Half Marathon, to win the Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Trophy. It is a grand running event of Lampang Province held continuously for 30 years. For this year, it will be held under the concept “Ready to Zero Carbon” to move the province toward a low carbon city and encourage runners and the public to realize the importance of environmental conservation through carbon reduction activities. Mr. Chanathip Semyeam, Deputy Governor of Lampang Province; Mr. Prajuab Doncommul, EGAT Assistance Governor – Mae Moh Mine; Mr. Phirarak Phitchayakul, Vice President of Lampang Chamber of Commerce; and Mr. Rut Jiroajvanichakorn, President of Thai Mass Participation Sports Trade Association (TMPSA), attended the press conference at Central Plaza, Lampang Province.

Deputy Governor of Lampang Province said that Mae Moh Half Marathon has been popular among Thai and foreign runners and is the biggest running event of Lampang Province and the North. As it is the 30th year, relevant parties are preparing the event in all aspects to elevate it to a global level to build a reputation for the province. Lampang Province also has cultural attractions and beautiful running routes for runners and tourists to experience the cultural and sports tourism.
EGAT Assistance Governor – Mae Moh Mine revealed that the 30th Mae Moh Half Marathon has been open for application since May 19, 2023, consisting of 21 km half marathon, 10 km mini marathon, and 5 km micro marathon. On those three routes, the runner will run through the beautiful winter scenery of Mae Moh Power Plant, Mae Moh Mine, and Huay Phet and Mae Kham reservoirs. The carbon-free EV mini buses will be also used to facilitate the runners in response to the concept of “Ready to Zero Carbon.”
Vice President of Lampang Chamber of Commerce said that organizing the Mae Moh Half Marathon will considerably boost the economy of Lampang Province by creating the spending through hotels, accommodations, local shops, restaurants, tourist spots, and event organizing services. According to the Chiang Mai University’s Center of Excellence in Econometrics, it was estimated that the overall economic value generated from the event was 191 million Baht or 13 times of the investment cost. This represents a significantly high economic value and we hope that these runners will undoubtedly return to visit Lampang again in the future.
