“The QSR of Asia” opens “KFC Green Store” and joins with EGAT to open “EleX by EGAT” charging station for EV users

“The QSR of Asia” under ThaiBev promoted environmental conservation by opening the “KFC Green Store” and joining with EGAT to open the first “EleX by EGAT” charging station at a KFC store in Thailand to support green traveling.

On September 8, 2023, Ms. Sasai Tungdajahirun, Managing Director of The QSR of Asia Co., Ltd., Ms. Jiraporn Sirikum, Deputy Governor – Power Business of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and honored guests attended the opening ceremony of the “EleX by EGAT” charging station at KFC Green Store (Depot by Vanachai branch) in Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province to support green traveling and build confidence for EV users.

Ms. Sasai Tungdajahirun, Managing Director of The QSR of Asia Co., Ltd., revealed that due to this year’s strong global sustainability trend and the increasing environmental awareness in consumers, The QSR of Asia has been driving its organization with concern for the environment and the world, in line with the sustainability development plan of its parent company, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev), to “create sustainable growth” in all aspects, including environmental conservation, social responsibility, and good governance, coupled with business expansions in Thailand and ASEAN with the goal of net zero emissions by 2040. Moreover, its operation supports KFC’s “Fast Good Strategy” to conduct its business with sustainably while caring for all sectors in order to build a strong foundation for the future. “Done the right way” was Colonel Sanders’s goal from the beginning and until this day it is ingrained in every procedure covering “People – Food – and Planet.”

The QSR of Asia has initiated the Zero Waste concept through the “KFC Green Store” to promote waste reduction at the source. The store was designed, built, and decorated using recycled material and has installed solar rooftops to help conserve energy. Recently, the company joined with EGAT to open the first “EleX by EGAT” charging station at the KFC store in Thailand at the Depot by Vanachai branch to support clean energy usage and the new consumer lifestyle that is beginning to use more electric vehicles (EVs).

Ms. Jiraporn Sirikum, EGAT Deputy Governor – Power Business, added that during the past three years, EGAT has been driving the EV Business Solutions continuously by collaborating with all sectors to support the infrastructure of EV charging stations to complete Thailand’s EV ecosystem and has been applying EGAT’s electrical expertise to improve safety and build confidence for EV users. The goal is to expand the EleX by EGAT charging stations to cover all routes in Thailand and develop the EleXA application and BackEN EV management system to assist EV users. Presently, EGAT has opened 140 charging stations and plans to reach 180 stations by the end of 2023.

This EleX by EGAT charging station comprises a 125 kW DC fast charger with two charging dispensers and can charge two EVs simultaneously. Additionally, there are charging stations at other two KFC stores, namely Ratchaphruek and Nawamin 70 Bangkok branches. All branches are now open for service and users can locate the station, view its status, charge, and make a payment easily via the EleXA application. Moreover, EleXA users can enjoy an exclusive promotion for buying KFC fried chicken at a special price from today until December 31, 2023.
